We read the tracks and scat of animals, the depth and lustre of their coats, the set of their ears and the gait of their limbs. We read the horns of sheep, the teeth of horses. We read the weights and measures of the wind, the flight of birds, the surface of the sea, snow, fossils, broken rocks, the growth of shrubs and trees and lichens. We also read, of course, the voices that we hear. We read the speech of jays, ravens, hawks, frogs, wolves, and, in infinite detail, the voices, faces, gestures, coughs and postures of other human beings. This is a serious kind of reading, and it antedates all but the earliest, most involuntary form of writing, which is the leaving of prints and traces, the making of tracks.

Starring Lamorisse's winsome son, Pascal Lamorisse, and the most expressive crimson helium and rubber object ever, Le Ballon Rouge's tale about a boy and his eponymous object is a touching fable of friendship and loss, as the balloon takes it upon itself to join the boy in his daily activities.
Floating along with the boy, the balloon wreaks comic havoc on the boy's daily routine, and moves lyrically through his Paris neighborhood; their seemingly doomed adventures reach a magical conclusion that caps the film's visual beauty.

La Linea is an Italian animated series created by Osvaldo Cavandoli. The cartoon features a man walking on an infinite line. The man himself is drawn using one line and is a part of the line he is walking on.

The character encounters obstacles and often turns to the cartoonist to draw him a solution. The background color changes as mood or feelings of the character change, but most of the series was black and white. The cartoon was originally used for advertisements, before the animated series was created.

The B-listed Govanhill Picture House opened in 1926. Built to the designs of Eric A Sutherland, it featured an interesting Egyptian-styled facade, with columns and a moulded scarab above the entranceway.

The interior sat 1,200, and although described as having stalls and balcony, the front of the 'balcony' came right down to the rear of the 'stalls' level, with a wooden dividing wall to keep the separate areas apart.

The building was sold to ABC in 1929, and remained open until 1961, from when it was used for bingo. That ended in 1974, since when the building has mainly been used as a warehouse.

However, the cinema is now derelict, and the building is on the Scottish Buildings At Risk register, so its future is uncertain - reports suggest an application to demolish the building to replace it with flats may be in the pipeline.
